Obituary

George I. Scribner, age 96, passed away after a long and full life on September 21, 2016. George was born in Cambridge, raised and educated in Jamaica Plain where he met his future wife Frances. Both were very active in the First Baptist Church of Jamaica Plain. George married Fran before he went to serve in the Army during WWII. Upon his return he worked for New England Mutual Life Insurance Co. until his retirement.
With a growing family he moved to Weymouth and became active in the First Baptist Church of North Abington where he held many different positions. He loved people whether it was his family, his church or the many organizations he volunteered for including Junior Achievement and Camp Fire. He enjoyed sports and traveling and after retirement spent many days golfing and candlepin bowling.
George was predeceased by his beloved wife Frances (Artz) Scribner. He is the loving father of Donna Maddox and her husband John of Texas, Janet Scribner and companion, Alan Swiman of Hingham, and Dana Scribner of Tyngsboro, cherished grandfather of Elayne and Becky, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service for George to be held on Saturday, October 8 at 2PM in the First Baptist Church of North Abington located at 219 Adams St, Abington, MA 02351. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of George may be made to the Youth Camp Fund c/o First Baptist Church North Abington. Services for George are in the care of C. C.
