Thomas E. English a retired teacher with Medford Schools passed away peacefully on Thursday at the E. N. Rogers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital of Bedford. He was 82. A life-long Medford resident he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Isabel C. (Holt) English. After high school Tom served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He studied at Mississippi State, where he also played football. He finished college at Boston University and served as a Physical Education Teacher with Medford Public Schools until his retirement. Tom also enjoyed a long career as a referee for high school and semi-pro football games. He was well respected in athletic circles locally and throughout the region. He was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed time with his family and friends.
The beloved husband of Marlene R. (Boback) English, he was a devoted father of Marc English of TX, John English of Boston, Daniel English and his wife Tami of GA. He was a dear stepfather of Michael Previti and his wife Brandy of Reading, John Previti and his wife Jennifer of Medford and the late Anthony Previti. He was a loving grandfather to Lexi, Tayla, Sara, Rebeka, Kadence, and Kendall and a loving great-grandfather of Aurora, Braden, Adelynn and Noah. He was the brother of the late Charlie, John, Philip, Dorothy, Barbara and Rosemary.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday October 5th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home Tuesday 4 - 8 PM
