George O. Delap
GROTON: George O. Delap, 99, of Groton died Friday, September 30, 2016 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth W. Delap who died in 2008.
George was born in Terryville CT on September 2, 1917 to Frederick and Eva (Gavin) Delap. He and his wife raised their family in Bristol CT. Where he worked as a Tool and Die Maker at Thomaston Special Tool in Thomaston, CT for over 30 years, retiring in 1973. They then moved to the Groton shore where they enjoyed a long and happy retirement. He was an active member of the Mystic Congregational Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Norton of Massachusetts and Jane Laurencelle of North Carolina, as well as two grandchildren, Janet Norton and Brian Laurencelle and one great grandchild Samantha Laurencelle.
A private Graveside Service will be held later in the fall at the family plot in West Cemetery, Plymouth CT.
