Wendy J. (Mello) Burns, age 51, of Taunton, formerly of Lakeville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of the late George S. Burns, Sr. who died on July 27, 2012
Born in Middleboro, MA on November 20, 1964, she was a loving daughter of the late Richard Mello and Annette (Reed) Maddigan.
Wendy grew up and was educated in Middleboro, and was a graduate of Middleboro High School. She had made her home in Taunton for over fifteen years and had previously resided in Lakeville.
In addition to being a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Wendy had also worked for several years as a Customer Service Representative at Macy’s Department Store at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton.
Wendy’s greatest pleasure was spending time in the company of her loving family and friends, and was joyfully anticipating the birth of her eight grand child in December. She was also a huge fan of Elvis Presley and loved listening to the “Kings” music.
She is survived by her devoted children Christopher Burns of New Bedford, Brittany Burns and her fiancé Ryan Kelly of Rockland, Richard Powers of Taunton, George Burns, Jr. of Florida, Arthur Burns of Hanover, Michael Burns of Florida and Margaret Burns of New Bedford. She was the dear sister of Mary-Beth Thomas of Florida, and is also survived by her cherished 7 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, as well as 1 niece and 1 nephew.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of Wendy’s life to be held at the Middleboro Lodge of Elks, 24 High Street in Middleboro on a date at time be announced.
Visiting hours have been omitted and burial will take place privately at the Sampson Cemetery in Lakeville.
