Obituary

Lloyd R. Clapp Jr., 72, of Taunton, Massachusetts comfortably passed away on September 28th in his home after a difficult illness that shortened his time with us.

Lloyd was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on March 20th 1944 and the first born son of Lloyd R. Clapp Senior and Louise C. Skillings (Purtle).

Lloyd was a man of many traits and talents but he was most content at the Dighton Redemption Center where he happily worked for 13 years with some of his best friends before retiring in 2012. Lloyd had the strongest will but was undeniably charismatic. He is well known for his stories that were so out of this world and it would turn the worst day into a great day. Lloyd is described as loving, caring, stubborn, a jokester, sports fan, strong willed, a leader, and goofy. Lloyd liked to gamble probably because he had the best luck in winning on his scratch tickets and loved the casino. He also loved playing cards and bowling with his friends at the Wise program for the past 4 years. Lloyd enjoyed watching all types of cars, trucks and planes but especially loved trains. There were many trips to get the biggest plates of fish and chips, roast beef subs, and onion pizza.

He leaves behind his sister Sheila Woolf of Halifax, Ma and his long time love Jeannie.

Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral service to be held Wednesday October 5 at 11:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9:00-11:00 AM.
