Sr. Gilberte P. Tanguay, age 90 passed away on September 29, 2016 at the St. Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary in Methuen, MA. Sr. Tanguay was born on November 29, 1925 in St. Theodore d’Acton, Quebec, Canada to the late Arthur and Yvonne (Brunette) Tanguay. Sr. Gilberte attended Notre Dame du St. Rosaire Grammar School in Gardner, MA. She was a graduate of Rivier Community High School and a Graduate of Rivier University. Sr. Tanguay was a school teacher from in both Maine and Massachusetts from 1943 until 1980. Following her teaching career, Sr. Tanguay worked at Community Services from 1980 until 1999 and also helped care for the sick in her community from 1999 until 2015.
Sr. Gilberte is survived by her siblings; Sr. Cecile Tanguay, Leo Tanguay and his late wife Irene, Emile Tanguay and his wife Barbara, George Tanguay and his wife Helene, Norbert Tanguay and his wife Sherrie, Denise Agnelli, and Herve Tanguay and his wife Seranne. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sr. Tanguay was predeceased by her brothers Armand Tanguay and his late wife Catherine, Fr. Andre Tanguay O.M.I., and her sister Fernande Goguen. She is also predeceased by her late sisters in law; Frances Tanguay and Joan Tanguay.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the St. Claire Residence of the Presentation of Mary, 209 Lawrence St. Methuen. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 2:30 PM at the Chapel of the Presentation of Mary in Methuen.
