It is time to say: ‘Til We Meet Again’ to an incredible lady, Joan Marie Rideout. Joan recently lost her battle with cancer on September 27th, 2016.
Joan was 75 years old and predeceased by her husband Searle Rideout They had five children: a daughter Patricia Rideout of Mississippi, predeceased son Donald Rideout of Florida, son Daniel Rideout and wife Heather of Waterboro, daughter Laure and husband James Nickerson Sr of Limington, and daughter Cheryl Rideout of Buxton, Me. Joan also had 18 grandchildren in Me, Mississippi, Florida, NH, New York and Kansas, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Joan loved her children with all her heart; they were her life no matter how old. She was very blessed to have had so many friends and acquaintances who all touched her heart. Many of you she knew from Sylvania, Standish Me. where she worked until retirement, approximately 35+/- years.
Joan moved on from there to Sam’s Club Scarborough, Me until her recent passing. She made many, many friends and enjoyed her job there immensely meeting so many new people and watching the children grow.
She enjoyed her houseplants, feeding all her critters outside that enjoyed visiting her daily. She enjoyed Elvis, John Wayne and of course NCIS. But lets not forget her romance novels that were in a series and she looked forward to getting each new one as they came out.
When it came to Joan’s children, grandchildren and all the friends who came to visit, Joan always had the junk food and snacks she enjoyed watching them devour. It never hurt any of them in her eyes because they were all so tall and skinny so they needed to be fed.
Joan never missed a birthday and would call or send a card. She always wanted you to know she was thinking of you on your special day.
She loved to walk daily when she could, weather permitting. People always told me they saw her and would enjoy watching for her. A very determined, stubborn lady, right up til the end. We were all very fortunate she instilled these qualities in all of us and made us stronger to this day.
I will miss our visits and daily phone calls but I know she is with family, happy and calm. No more pain or suffering and we will meet again someday. So, until then mom, be free, happy and pain free. Party hardy with all our family, give dad and Donny big hugs and kisses from us all. We love you all and will see you again.
LOVE YOU DEARLY MOM!
“Til We Meet Again”
An Incredible Lady
I knew a woman with auburn hair
5’1” with beautiful creamy skin
A smile that would light up the room
A twinkle in her eye
A mischievous grin
A hug that would melt all your troubles away
But don’t forget that look if you get out of line
A heart of gold, a firm hand at times
A wealth of knowledge if you took the time
She loved singing and dancing, playing lawn games with the kids
But don’t forget the romance novels, more than a few
A dedicated worker with a playful side too
If you were fortunate to know her, you realize this is true
A mother, wife and loyal friend through and through
A woman full of love that we were able to share with you
So please remember, Joan can still hear you. You never know when or where it will be. In your dreams, in your thoughts or a site you may see. When you need her she will be there. She loved us all deeply and will always be there.
With all my love mom,
Laure Rideout Nickerson
