Obituary

Mr. Ferdinand F. “Fred” Susol, of Taunton, died Monday, September 26 in Marian Manor following a period of failing health. He was the former husband of the late Claire (Reilly) Susol. He was born 92 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Clemens and Agneizka (Petecki) Susol. He was educated in Taunton, graduating from the former Msgr. James Coyle High School, and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement Fred had been employed as a toolmaker for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 34 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served as an Aviation Radioman in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Coyle Council #82, and was a member of the David F. Adams Post #611 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Taunton Council on Aging, and the U.S. Power Squadron. Fred enjoyed fishing, especially at the Cape Cod Canal and in Jamestown, R.I., and duckpin bowling at both the former Roseland and Capeway Lanes, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer of several leagues. He was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church in Taunton.

He leaves: 1 son: Brian E. Susol and his wife, Brenda of Taunton; 1 daughter: Laurie Zilch of Brockton; 1 sister: Bridget Southam of Taunton; 3 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Fred was also the father of the late Glenn F. Susol of Taunton.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in the Holy Rosary Church, 80 Bay Street, on Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
