Great Grandmother
On September 26, at age 94, Nell was called home to her Heavenly Father. Nell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nell was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on February 11, 1922 to George and Ethel Miller. She spent her formative years there. Nell attended St. Catherine University, graduating on June 7, 1943 with a BS in Chemistry. After her graduation, Nell proudly served as a food inspector for the US government, approving train loads of food items for the troops. She also served as a teacher, training other inspectors. Nell married John Zingsheim on July 1, 1944. Afterwards, she spent time in Panama with him, at the end of WWII. At the end of the war, they lived for a short time in CA but then relocated to the Twin Cities where all their family lived. They lived in St. Paul and N. St. Paul where they happily raised seven children. Preceded in death by her husband, John, Nell is survived by all seven of her children: Jean (Harvey) Dordek, John, Robert (Kathy), Mary Porto, Thomas (Mimi), Michael (Cindy) and James; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Joshua, Corey, John, Thomas, Steven, Joseph (Mary), Danielle (Justin), Christopher (Karly), Nicholas, Jennifer, Justin, Jared, Selena, Shawn & Ashley; great grandchildren, Sophie, William, Vivian, Adeline, Colin, Aurora, Joseph, Kylie, Gabriella, Ryan, Reece, Apollo. Mass of Christian Burial Friday (September 30, 2016) 12:00 PM at CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 N. Margaret St., North St. Paul. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers the family is suggesting a memorial donation to the University Oncology Center.
