Jose L. Torres, age 83 passed away on Mon, Sept. 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 16, 1933 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to the late Jose and Dominga (Rosado) Torres. He was a communicant of Holy Name Parish in the Assumption Church. Jose worked for over 20 years as a Machinist for the former New England Container Co. was a member of the K of C Elder Council #69. Jose enjoyed golf, bowling and baseball. He leaves 3 daughters, Maria Alvardo, Yvette Torres and Arlene Rosa and her husband Lui all of Chicopee, 2 brothers Rolando Torres and his wife Alsenia of Chicopee and Carlos Torres and his wife Gladys of Puerto Rico; 2 sisters Lucy Santos of NY and Martha Acosta of Puerto Rico; 5 grandchildren Ryan, Brett, Anthony, Carlos and Marissa and one great grandchild Iyanara. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Elsie Santiago and Maria Carmen Torres. A Funeral Service will be held on Thurs, Sept. 29, 2016 at 8:45 AM from the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Parish in the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St Rose de Lima Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held on Wed, Sept. 28, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
