Obituary

James F. "Jim" Ellis, a 43 year resident of Milford and formerly of Charlestown and Mattapan, entered into eternal life on Friday, September 23, 2016 at his home in Milford surrounded by his loving family. He was 71 years of age.

Jim was born in Boston on December 11, 1944, a son of the late Wilbur W. Ellis and Marie J. (Cardinale) Ellis. He grew up in Mattapan where he attended the Boston Public School system and graduated from Hyde Park High School. Jim furthered his education by receiving a Degree from Dean Junior College. Following high school, Jim was drafted into the Unites States Navy on November 22, 1965 and served his country with courage and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. Jim was discharged on November 21, 1967 with the rank of Boatswain's Mate Third Class. Jim worked for Ryder Truck Lines for 25 years and the Boston Globe for 19 years until his retirement in 2008. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, his brothers from Mass Motors and the Globe, fishing, gardening, and taking trips to Florida and to Saratoga, NY. Jim was a member of Teamsters Local #259. He was also a member of AMVETS.

Jim is the beloved husband of 47 years to Catherine R. (Lyman) Ellis. He is the devoted father of Susan R. Oblak and her husband Thomas of Bolton, and Karen M. Ellis of Hudson. He is the loving Pa to James "Jake" Oblak, and Kerry Oblak. He is the beloved brother of Lucille Koch of Mattapan, Marie Savini of Union, NH, Wilbur "Hap" Ellis of Dedham, Michael Ellis of Little River, SC, and the late Charles and John Ellis. Jim is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jim's Funeral on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 9 A.M.from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 3 to 7 P.M. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
