William J. Keane, 83, of Atkinson, NH, died Friday September 23, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, MA on February 25, 1933, a son of the late William and Helen (Feeney) Keane. He had been a resident of Atkinson for many years, formerly living in Weston, MA and Jamaica Plain, MA where he was raised. Mr. Keane was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the VFW Post in Jamaica Plain for many years. He was employed as a civil engineer for the town of Weston, MA from which he retired.
He is survived by one son, William A. Keane and his wife Elizabeth of Atkinson; four daughters, Emily Layman and her husband Jim of Wallingford, CT, Denice Walker and her husband Bradley of Sandown, NH, Bernadette Hatchey and her husband Rick of E. Millinocket, ME, and Ruth Ann Ware and her husband Rick of Lake St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren, Tyler Stevens, Rebecca Keane, Kathryn Keane, and Matthew Keane; two brothers, Thomas Keane and his wife Janet of Rockland, MA, David “Roger” Keane and his wife Carol of Raynham, MA; two sisters, Grace Barry and her husband Jack of Weymouth, MA, and Paula McIntire and her husband Jim of Stoneham, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Elva A. (Albee) Keane in 2013, his grandson, Jesse Stevens, and his brother Walter Keane.
Following cremation, a graveside service was held on Saturday, October 1st at 11:00am in the Atkinson Cemetery, Main St., Atkinson.
