Obituary

THOMPSON, CT – Robert F. Paranto, 63, of 1267 Thompson Rd., died Tuesday, August 2, in Day Kimball Hospital.

He leaves a son, Anthony R. “Tony” Paranto; a daughter, Monique Canty, both of Webster, MA; a brother, Ronald Paranto of Vermont; 2 grandchildren, Logan Paranto and Lindsey Canty; nephews and nieces.

He was born in Webster, MA, a son of Francis and Rose (Vegnone) Paranto, and lived in the Webster area most of his life. He was a graduate of Saint Louis High School. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam.

Mr. Paranto was a car salesman for Dudley Discount Auto, retiring recently due to illness. He was head coach for the Bartlett H.S. junior varsity basketball team for two undefeated seasons, and then coached the varsity basketball team, winning the state championship in 1979. He was inducted into the Barlett High School Hall of Fame in 2003 and was an avid sports fan. He was a member of the American Legion.

The funeral will be held Saturday, August 6, from Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake St., Webster, MA. A calling period will be from 7:30 to 9:15 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Bartlett High School Hall of Fame, c/o Bartlett High School, Lake Parkway, Webster, MA 01570
