Ellen G. (Monahan) Henderson, a 20 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston. She was 80 years of age.
Ellen was born in Boston on March 21, 1936, a daughter of the late William J. Monahan and Grace A. (Kelly) Monahan. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School. Ellen worked as a bookkeeper for a fuel company for several years. Ellen loved bingo, playing cards, and especially loved her family.
Ellen is the devoted mother of Michael Florentine and his wife Susan, James Florentine, and Ronald Florentine all of Dorchester. She is the loving Nana to 9 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of William Monahan of Somerville, Thomas Monahan of Malden, and the late James Monahan.
Relatives & friends are invited to attend Ellen's Funeral on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 9 AM. from The Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. CHARLESTOWN followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 AM. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM. in the funeral home.
