Obituary

William F. "Butch" O'Malley, a 20 year resident of Hyde Park and formerly of Quincy and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Milton. He was 72 years of age.

Butch was born in Boston on June 30, 1944, a son of the late Walter O'Malley and Florence (Hanley) O'Malley. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from high school. Butch worked as a fork lift operator for Stop and Shop distribution. He was a member of Teamsters Local #25 from 1963 until his retirement in 2000. Butch loved the Red Sox, the Patriots, crossword puzzles, and reading. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Butch is the beloved father of Michelle Crowley, Brian O'Malley, and Kevin O'Malley. He is the loving Grandpa to Adam O'Malley, Dylan O'Malley, Devan McDonald, Colin Sullivan, and his great-grandson Shea Nelson. He is the former husband of Christine (Plant) O'Malley. He is the beloved brother of the late Maureen Stillman, Claire Isbart, Dorothy Burroughs, Anne Marie Page, Lorraine Evers, Rosemary McGrath, Janice Dollosa-Delvalle, Joanne Hart, Walter O'Malley, and Paul O'Malley. He is also survived by his loving niece Andrea Orpen, along with many other loving nieces and nephews. Butch is also survived by his dear friend Tommy Healey.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Butch's visiting hours on Monday morning, September 26, 2016 from 9 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
