Fr. Clifton “Cliff” Moors, S.M., 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the M.I. Restorative and Skilled Nursing Center.
Born in Bradley, ME, Fr. Cliff was educated in the Bradley Elementary Schools and then went on to graduate from John Baptist High School in 1946. He went on to attend the University of Ottowa and then Marist College in Framingham where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in 1951. He then continued on with Theology Studies at Marist College until 1956. Fr. Cliff made his Profession on September 8, 1952 and then went on to be ordained June 7, 1956. He was in seminary work from 1956 to 1974 and then taught at Notre Dame High School in Harper Woods, MI. from 1974 to 1981. Fr. Cliff then served as a teacher and Chaplin at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence from 1981 to 1990. He finished parish ministry at Sacred Heart in Lawrence and then Our Lady of Victories in Boston in 1996. Fr. Cliff had a strong Marist spirit of ministry to the lost and the poor on the streets of Lawrence and Boston as well as serving those at Lazarus House in Lawrence. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor.
The son of the late Wilfrid and Evelyn (Shorette) Moors, family members include his cousins: Eleanor Lizzotte of Old Town ME, Priscilla Applegate, Rosemarie Bate and Joel Shorette all of Bradley, ME and Pamela Oakes and Dale Shorette both of Milford, ME.
Fr. Cliff’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish at St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen, MA. Burial services will take place on Monday, September 26, 2016 in Old Town, ME. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday morning prior to the Funeral Mass from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Fr.
