Obituary

BEVERLY: Louis J. “Louie” Adduci, 87, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Hathorne Hill Healthcare in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Mary “Maria” (Matassa) Adduci who died in 2010.

Born in Boston on August 26, 1929, he was the son of the late James V. and Fortuna Adduci. He was a graduate of Brighton High School Class of 1947.

Louie enlisted in the Marine Corp Air Group at Squantum Naval Air Station following graduation, and then enlisted for active duty with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was assigned to the Combat Support Unit, Force Troops Fleet and Marine Forces. A veteran of the Korean War, he was honorably discharged on February 16, 1952.

Louie was employed in the Beverly School Department at the Claude H. Patten Vocational High School as a custodian for over twenty-eight years before retiring in 1992. He had also once worked as the service manager at the former Ocean Pontiac in Beverly for several years.
He enjoyed doing odd jobs, playing cards, and working on crossword puzzles. A lifelong Red Sox fan, he got to see his favorite team win three World Series championships.

Louie was proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a member of the Marine Corp Association, the Marine Corp League, as well as the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans organization.

He is survived by three daughters, Christine Gray and her husband Neil of Peabody, Madeline Young of Beverly, and Victoria Morgan of Salem; his grandchildren, Brett Gray and Rachel Gray; Melanie Maloney and her husband Michael; Morgan Charles and his wife Adrienne; and Adam Morgan; his great-grandchildren, Jonathan Aiello, Matthew and Andrew Maloney, Connor and Chloe Charles, and Nevaeh Morgan; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his two sisters, Lenore “Lee” Delaney and Christine Tremblay.

His funeral service will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 – 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Assoc., 14 Beacon St., Suite 717, Boston, MA 02108. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
