Helen Evelyn “Junie” Brown Barnes, 95, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Pruitt Health Fitzgerald, in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Friday, September 23, 2016, at New Hope Cemetery in Ambrose, Georgia, with the Rev. Danny Gay officiating.
Mrs. Barnes was born June 18, 1921, in Abbeville, Georgia, to the late William T. “Son” & Bertha Elizabeth “Lizzie” Stalls Brown. She was a long time Fitzgerald resident since 1932. She was a homemaker, farm wife, and textile worker, as a spinner in the cotton mill in Fitzgerald. She also retired from H. R. Kaminsky & Sons, where she worked on the banding machine. Mrs. Barnes was a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses: Herman & Elaine Barnes of Fitzgerald, Larry Barnes of Cordele and Roger Barnes of Stuart, Florida; daughters and their spouses: Shirley Ann & Alan Weichbrodt of Los Angeles, California and Brinda Fuller of Abbeville; a daughter-in-law: Patty Barnes of Fitzgerald; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and a sister: Willie Mae “Bootsie” Rogers of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Amos Barnes; a son: Donnie Ray Barnes; an infant daughter: Kathleen; three sisters and four brothers.
