Dorothy “Dotty” L. Downs, 66, of Taftville and formerly of Groton, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.
She was born on April 1, 1950 in South Weymouth MA, the daughter of Walter and Bertha (Connors) Maloney.
She worked as Front Desk Clerk and Manager of the Flagship Motel for 15 years. More recently, she was employed as a Cashier at Kohl’s in Groton. Dotty loved bowling, especially the Friday Night Mixers at Holiday Bowl. She was an avid and longtime fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan and her husband Bruce Barton of Groton and Beverly and her husband Lowell Lavallee of Taftville, as well as her four beloved grandchildren; Joshua Doyle, Michael Barton, Jocelyn Barton, and Onna-Marie Gwiazdowzki and by 3 nieces, 2 great nieces and one great nephew. She is also survived by her husband, Gary W. Downs of Kentucky.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister Theresa Wyman.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 19, at 2:00pmat the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic.
