Joey R. Loranger, 53, of Dartmouth died September 20, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital of complications from a 6 year battle with cancer.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Richard L. and Nancy (Senesac) Loranger, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
He was employed by the family business, first with Sturtevant & Hook in New Bedford and later with 1 Stop Building Supply in Newport, RI.
Joey enjoyed walks with Liz, long country drives, spending time with his nieces and nephews, boating, camping at Chesuncook Lake Village in Maine, and the company of his 2 cats Jacques and Pierre, better known as "the boys."
He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1981. Joey served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the USCG Cutter Bibb.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Christopher Loranger and his companion Judy Groleau of Dartmouth; 2 sisters, Karen Barry and her husband Kevin of Southboro and Nicole Antonio of Fairhaven; his nieces and nephews, Colleen Barry, Ryan Barry, Phoebe Antonio and Sebastian Antonio; and his dear friend, Liz Silva of Tiverton, RI.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 28th at 10 AM in St. Julie Billiart Church. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
