Grafton - Allan H. Ojerholm, 87, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2016. The youngest of six children born to Julius and Emma (Hult) Ojerholm, Allan graduated from Millbury High School. Within months, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a radioman in Japan and Korea from 1946 to 1952. After being honorably discharged, Allan attended the New England School of Accounting. He met the love of his life, the late Claire (Abbott) Ojerholm, at a dance. Married nearly 61 years, Al and Claire raised their family in Grafton and were active members of Belmont Street Baptist Church. While working to support his family, Al attended night school, earning an undergraduate degree from Clark University and an MBA from Suffolk University. He ran a successful CPA practice in Worcester for 50 years, finally retiring in 2008. Al also taught accounting and tax courses, with a healthy dose of puns and jokes mixed in, at the New England School of Accounting, Clark University, Bentley College, and Nichols College. Is it any wonder all three of his sons became CPAs? Al was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Grafton and former Assistant Treasurer of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club. He was an avid reader, amateur astronomer, boater, genealogist and collector, especially of coins, stamps, antique oval picture frames and interesting rocks from the places he and Claire travelled. Al was also a skilled “do-it-yourselfer” who enjoyed doing carpentry, masonry, plumbing and remodeling projects around the house. Al was cheerful, steadfast, kind and generous. A loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Al and Claire faithfully attended their special events and took each one individually to Disney World. Al and Claire also hosted their extended family at Squam Lake each summer so everyone could be together. Al is survived by his sons: Raymond (Karen) Ojerholm of Pittsburgh, PA; David (Darlene) Ojerholm of Worcester; and Charles Ojerholm of New York, NY; as well as his grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A service to celebrate Al’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m., also at Nordgren.
