TAUNTON – Maria A. Furtado, wife of Jose DaRosa Furtado for over 55 years, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Sept. 17, 2016. She was 74.
Born in Faial, Acores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Fraga-da Silva) Furtado.
Maria was a homemaker who was a loving and caring person and devoted to her family. She moved to Providence from Faial in 1969 and settled later in the Taunton area. She loved God, going to church and was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord in Taunton.
Besides her husband Jose, she leaves three sons, Jose I. Furtado and his wife Carol of N. Dighton, Manuel Furtado and his wife Colleen, Michael Furtado and his wife Tracy, all of Taunton; three daughters, Mary Aguiar and her husband John, and Susan Furtado all of Somerset, and Debbie White of Wareham; one brother, Jose Manuel deSilva Furtado from Faial; four sisters, Maria Salome Furtado of Terceira, Maria Felismina Furtado Bettencourt, Maria Ines Furtado daSilva and Maria Connie Furtado Gomes all of CA; eleven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the mother to the late Cynthia Furtado.
Mrs. Furtado’s family would like to thank the staff at Longmeadow Nursing Home and Hospice Care for their wonderful care and compassion.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Sept. 23rd at 8:45 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
