Obituary

Walter "Walt" Courter, 73, passed away Sunday Morning, September 18, 2016 at Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach.
Mr. Courter was born February 21, 1943 in New London, CT and moved to Fernandina Beach 25 years ago from Superior, WI.
He was an Over the Road truck driver and hauled heavy ordinance for the Department of Defense. He was an avid fisherman and made many trips to Alaska. He was a Tampa Bay Rays and a Jacksonville Jaguars fan. Mr. Courter loved traveling. He was also co-founder and co-owner of Step by Step Learning Centers.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter J. and Helen Courter; a son, Walter J. "Jimmy" Courter, Jr.; and a sister, Joanne Courter.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janet Courter of Fernandina Beach, FL; and was the beloved father of Deborah L. Lamb, Vicki courter and Wayne Bissonnett.
Also surviving are three brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Jean Courter, Michael and Maggie Courter, Richard and Lisa Courter; two sisters and brothers in law, Helen and Arthur Paige, Linda and Timothy and Mardegan; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 24, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Hayes officiating.
