Obituary

Paul F. Gately, 82, formerly of Warwick, Rhode Island died Saturday, September 17, 2016 at the CareOne at Millbury.

Born on March 13, 1934 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late William and Marion (Davis) Gately.

Mr. Gately grew up in the Somerville / Arlington area and attended St. Catherine’s Parish. He moved to Framingham where he raised his family until moving to Warwick in the late 70’s where he resided for many years.

Mr. Gately proudly served in the U.S. Army for 4 years.

Before his retirement, he owned and operated Synthetic Sports Surfacing in Warwick.

Mr. Gately was a member of the Hibernian and Shamrock Society in Rhode Island and was an avid boater and a huge New England sports fan.

He is survived by his children, Lynn Shea of Sarasota, FL, James Gately of Bradenton, FL, Colleen Grady of Franklin, Paula Gately of Hopedale, Joseph Gately of Uxbridge, and Thomas Gately of Mendon. He was the father of the late Robert Gately.

He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Rebecca, Casey, Ryan, Sarah, Melissa, Amanda, Joey, Micheal, Carlie, Jessica, Jacob, Robert, Shamus and Emilee, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mildred Doran, Marion Gately and William Gately, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 22 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m.

Burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Mr. Gately’s memory to the CareOne at Millbury - Activities Department, 312 Millbury Ave, Millbury, MA 01527.
