Henry H. "Hank" Achilles Jr., 71, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Hank was born in Hanover, NH on October 15, 1933, a son of the late Henry H. and Letitia (Rielly) Achilles Sr. of Sunapee, NH. He was a resident of Derry since 1977, formerly living in Westborough, MA and Dover, NH. Hank was a retired US Naval veteran. Following retirement, he had been employed in sales for Allen Motors, AutoMart and Campers Showcase. He was an enthusiastic sportsman, and had been very involved with hunter safety and education programs.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia "Cindy" (Burnham) Achilles of Derry, three sons, Bruce H. Achilles of Londonderry, NH, Michael E. Achilles of Hudson, NH, Steven E. Achilles of Portsmouth, NH, four grandchildren, Jamie, Jessie, Emily and Katie, three sisters, Katherine Tyler of Norton, MA, Addie Hall of Boones Mill, VA, Abbie Ricketts of Lees, MO. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Achilles of Sunapee.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be at the families convenience. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham VNA Hospice, 137 Epping Rd., Exeter, NH 03833. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
