Alfred J. Wiencek Sr., age 89 passed away on Friday, September 16, 2016. Al was born in Clinton, MA, and grew up in South Boston before becoming a long time resident of South Weymouth. He was a carpenter and master window maker on the South Shore for many years. Before serving his country in the Army during World War II, he graduated from Don Bosco Technical High School in 1945. Besides being very close to his family his other passions were fishing, camping, and metal recycling.
Alfred was the beloved husband of the late Joyce (Saunders) Wiencek and is survived by his children, Alfred J. Wiencek Jr. and his wife Teresa of Gilbert, AZ, Richard J. Wiencek of S. Weymouth, Thomas J. Wiencek and his wife Barbara of Kingfield, ME, Steven J. Wiencek and his husband Lonnie Cason of Phoenix, AZ, Kathleen J. Colby and her husband David of Medford, Laura, J. Bevacqua of Wellington, CO and Edward J. Wiencek and his wife Diane of Uxbridge.
He also leaves his grandchildren, Jessica, Jonathan and Joshua Colby, Alexandria Hord, Ashley Wiencek, Michael King, Adam and Emilie Arrighi and Evan Wiencek, his great grandchildren, Elliott Hord and Taylor King and his brother Henry Wiencek. Al is predeceased by his brother Edward Wiencek.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Alfred on Tuesday September 20 from 4-8 PM at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8:30 AM on Wednesday September 21 for a celebration of life prior to the Funeral Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant St. S. Weymouth at 9:30 AM. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Al’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
