Mildred M. (Blaikie) Burke, a 38 year resident of Nashua, New Hampshire and former longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, New Hampshire following an extended illness. She was 96 years old.
Mildred was born in Boston on May 6, 1920, a daughter of the late Howard Blaikie and Ida (Ployer) Blaikie. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School. Mildred was a homemaker most of her adult life caring for her husband and children. She enjoyed reading and was devoted to her faith and her catholic upbringing.
Mildred is the beloved wife of the late Martin J. Burke. She is the devoted mother of William E. Burke and his wife Kathleen of Charlestown, Stephen D. Burke and his wife Beatrice of Nashua, New Hampshire and the late Joseph F. Burke and John F. Burke and his surviving wife Ellen of Florida. She is the loving Nana to William, Colleen, Timothy, Kellie, Katie, Susan, Stephen J., Jeffrey, Meredith, Darlene, Paul, Julie and her 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is the beloved sister of the late Doreen Peletier, Dorothy Pasalaqua, Agnes Coleman, Kathleen Blaikie, George Blaikie, Benjamin Blaikie, Howard Blaikie, Donald Blaikie, John Blaikie and Paul Blaikie. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mildred's visiting hours on Thursday morning, September 22, 2016 from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
