Kathleen M. Driscoll Kazanowski, 61 of Duxbury, formerly of Brockton, died after a prolonged illness on September 14, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Eleanor Delea Driscoll and the late Robert J. Driscoll of Brockton. She is survived by her husband Thomas J. Kazanowski, and their children Thomas R. Kazanowski and Michelle K. Kazanowski, as well as siblings Kenneth Driscoll and Robert M. Driscoll (wife Beth) both of Brockton, and Janice Regan (husband David) of Iowa. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was a retired elementary school teacher and administrator in the Brockton Public Schools. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Stonehill College in 1976. She subsequently earned a Masters in Education degree from Bridgewater State University. Among many other accomplishments, she was able to participate as a teacher in the summertime Migrant Education Program in Brockton. Kathy also served as an officer of the Brockton Education Association.
Kathy was proud to serve on the Duxbury committee that oversaw the reopening of the closed Duxbury Ashdod Fire Station, and considered every member of the Fire Department a cherished friend. Her reliance upon the Duxbury EMTs during her final years grew into a loving relationship. Additionally, Kathy served a short period of time as a member of the Duxbury School Committee, which was cut short by the onset of her illness.
As a member of Holy Family Church in Duxbury, Kathy taught several years of CCD. Over the years Kathy also participated in the Big Brother-Big Sister program, as well as other charitable endeavors.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday September 20, 2016 at the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Route 123) Brockton, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday September 21, 2016 at 11 am in Holy Family Church (Route 3A) Duxbury. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kathleen Kazanowski Scholarship Fund, c/o Coastal Heritage Bank, 560 Plain Street, Marshfield, MA 02050, or the Duxbury Fire Department Donations Fund, 668 Tremont Street, Duxbury, MA 02331.
