Robert B. Hayward, age 83, of Middleboro, died September 13, 2016 at the Seasons Hospice Inpatient Center after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of the late Claudette N. (Duquette) Hayward and loving companion of Jacqueline Duquette. Born in Brockton and raised in West Bridgewater, Robert was the son of the late Harry E. and Ruth L. (Beals) Hayward. He was a resident of West Bridgewater and Brockton for many years before moving to Middleboro.
Robert was an Airforce veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked as a truck driver for the J.C. Campbell Paper Company in Brockton and continued on as it transitioned to the Lindenmeyr Munroe Paper Company for over 40 years. Robert was a member of both the Bertocci and Russell Clubs in Brockton and the Samoset Club in West Bridgewater. He was an active Forty-Five player and also enjoyed shuffleboard, home gardening and watching the stock market.
Robert is survived by his children Robert B. Hayward, Jr. and his wife Kim of Bridgewater, Susan R. Marks of Brockton, and Tim H. Hayward and his companion Christine McElhinney of West Bridgewater; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Harry Hayward of Brockton, his sister Betty Vacca and her husband John of New Hampshire, his brothers-in-law Louis Fortin of West Bridgewater and Robert Price of Brockton and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Christine Price, Kathryn Garner, Ester Walker and William, Bud, and Alice Hayward.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday 5-8pm. Burial will be held at a later date in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s name may be made to Seasons Hospice, 20 Burlington Mall Road, Suite #450, Burlington, MA 01803.
