Obituary

TRAUNSTEIN, Leah Mayo (Tillson), at the age of 94, died on Sept 10, 2016 at Belmont Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Dec 8, 1921 in Rockland, Maine to Eunice Mayo Tillson and Francis Tillson. She graduated with an RN degree from Maine General in 1944 and lived in Winthrop, MA with her beloved husband Maurice Traunstein Jr, MD for over 60 yrs. Leah will be greatly missed. She lived life to its fullest, enjoying her friends and family, engaging in many sports, painting, chorus, DAR, and community and church activities. A cancer survivor, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society through “Reach to Recovery.” Leah was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Traunstein, Jr and grandchild, Lena Rose Traunstein. She is survived by her children: Ruth Bennett, Donna Traunstein and husband Steven Glickman, Adria Kempner and husband Benjamin Kempner, Philip Traunstein and wife Alisa Izumi, and Lois Traunstein and wife Maria Moschonisiou; grandchildren: Tilson Bennett, Nathan Kempner, and Max Izumi Traunstein. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service and reception at Belmont Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 34 Agassiz Ave, Belmont, MA on Nov 5, 2016 at 2:15 pm. Leah will be interred at Spruce Knoll in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
