Eugene Brendan Clifford, age 83, of Milton, Marshfield and Vero Beach, FL passed away September 12th at the South Shore Hospital. Born, raised and educated in Dundalk, Ireland, he came to the US at the age of 24. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and a member of Post 114 American Legion, Milton, the Disabled American Veterans of South Boston, the Irish American Veterans and Lodge 1774 Elks Vero Beach, FL. After the service he worked for the old Boston Traveler till 1972, he then went to the Boston Herald where he was shop steward for many years before retiring. Eugene Brendan was a late Trustee and Executive Board member for Local 264. He was a Town of Milton Meeting Member, Past President of St. Agatha Church Holy Name Society, former member of the Milton Knights of Columbus, President of Blackman’s Homeowners Assn., a member of Castle Island Assn. and Executive Secretary for Juted of Northern Ireland. Beloved husband of Mary F. (Quinn). Father of Gene J. Clifford of Milton, M. Elizabeth Vernon and her husband Timothy of Braintree, Theresa A. Clifford of Quincy and Geraldine M. Leighton and her husband David of Braintree. Brother of Vera McGauley of Ireland. Also survived by 9 grandchildren. Funeral Mass at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Saturday morning at 10.
