D. Grace (Whitcher) Riff, 96, formerly of Western Avenue in Berlin, passed away on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at the Coos County Nursing Home. She was born in Berlin on January 23, 1920 the daughter of Arthur L. and Frieda (Oleson) Whitcher and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Berlin High with the Class of 1938 and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and of W.E.L. C. A. at St. Paul. She enjoyed her family, holidays, cooking, baking, traveling and reading.
Family includes her daughters Marion Letarte of Jefferson, NH and Kristine Skilling of Gray, ME; sons Tracy Riff of Berlin, William Riff of Berlin, Donald Riff of Berlin and Gary Riff of Gorham; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; half-sisters Beverly Lafferrandre of Norman, OK and Marlene McGivney of Hanson, MA; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence T. “Manny” Riff on May 5, 1994, a granddaughter Jennifer Valliere Lessard, a great grandson Nathan and brothers Robert Whitcher and Norman Whitcher.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday September 17, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Berlin. Interment will be in the New City Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
