Ernest J. Fugere, Jr., 83, of Baxter Lane, Greenville, died peacefully Tuesday surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Weeks) Fugere. They have been married for 56 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Dion) Fugere. He had worked as an Installation Repair Technician for forty-two years with New England Telephone before retiring in 1995. He was a faithful member of the New England Telephone Pioneers of America, as well as the American Legion. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Regiment (Old Guard).
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Kevin Fugere and his wife Gina of Smithfield, Mark Fugere and his wife Gail of North Kingstown, Brian Fugere and his wife Colleen of East Greenwich and Kathleen Sullivan and her husband Brian of East Greenwich, as well as his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Caitlin, Colby, Alyssa, Kaylee, Alexandra, Cameron, Jamie and Quinn. He is predeceased by his sister, Rita Charron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Visitation Friday from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence.
