Claire R. (Deschamps) Normand, 81, of Salem, passed away peacefully at her home, following a long battle with cancer, on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was the devoted wife of the late Laurent A. “Pete” Normand.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Roland H. and Martha L. (Sauvageau) Deschamps. Married to Laurent in 1959, Claire devoted herself to the caring of her family and creating a welcoming home for them. In later years she worked part time as a bookkeeper for several companies in Salem. A resident of Salem for many years, she enjoyed several years in Ogunquit, ME and winters in Punta Gorda, FL.
Claire is survived by her two daughters, Susan Courcelle and her husband Thomas, & Janice Moran and her husband Philip, her three sons, Ronald, Robert and Thomas Normand. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Jennifer & Michael Courcelle, Ronald, Michael & Andrew Normand and Dawn Marie and Brian Moran as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Roland and Richard Deschamps.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. A committal service will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
