Obituary

Margaret "Peggy" (Fortes) Vieira, 70, of New Bedford died August 1, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
She was the former wife of the late Antonio "Toi" Vieira.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward and Laura (Correia) Fortes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Vieira was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed as a lunch aide at the Gomes Elementary School in New Bedford.
Mrs. Vieira enjoyed Keno, trips to Foxwoods, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. She lived for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Victoria Lobo, and her husband Julio Duarte Lobo, of New Bedford; a brother, Edward Fortes, and his wife Marqueza "Mackie", of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Youngblood, and her husband James, of Freetown and Adeline Britto, and her husband Joseph L. Britto, of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Kyle A. Vieira, who she raised and Shaylene, Sarah, Julio "JuJu" and Joshua; several nieces, nephews and 3 uncles.
She was the mother of the late Vanessa T. Vieira and sister of the late Olivia "Vivie" Britto and Henry "Dick" Fortes.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, August 5th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Thursday, August 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Interment St. John's Cemetery.
