Leonard Griffin, 80, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla with the Rev. Chuck Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Griffin was born December 8, 1935, in Alapaha, Georgia to the late W.H. & Eunice Luke Griffin. He was a retired truck driver for Luke Oil & Fertilizer. He loved to fish, especially seining at Jekyll Island. His dog, Boy, will certainly miss him. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Eva Raye Collins of Tifton, Leonard Wesley Griffin of Fitzgerald, Geraldine & Sonny Dowdy of Mystic, Howard Griffin of Ocilla, and Carrol & Dawn Griffin of Fitzgerald, Linda & Bubba Guidry of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Teresa Purvis of Ocilla, Debra Kaye Heaton of Lake City, Florida, Carl Edward Heaton, Jr. & Eleanor of Port St. Lucie, Florida; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Burnell Boyd of Tifton, Burnett Voge of Phoenix, Arizona, and Mae Brooks of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Thelma Laverne Lankford Griffin and Lynette Grantham Griffin as well as nine brothers and sisters.
