Obituary

Lillian (Souza) Correia passed away peacefully on September 12, 2016 in the home she was born in 91 years ago. She was the wife of Joseph S. Correia and daughter of the late Frank and Cora Souza.

Lillian was a very active person and was proud of her participation in the Coalition for the Responsible Siting of the LNG Facilities, the North End Association, the BMC Durfee Class of 1944 Reunion Committee and the Fall River Historical Society.

She began working at the Virginia Dare Store at a young age. Later in life Lillian became a pre-primary and second grade teacher at St. Michael School where she inspired hundreds of students with her energy and enthusiasm. She was also employed by the St. Michael’s Credit Union. Lillian enjoyed commenting about politics, watching the Patriots and being with all of her family.


She is survived by a son, Paul F. Correia and his wife Doris Correia of Tiverton, RI. Lillian was the proud grandmother of four and “Gee-gee” of three young boys: Sarah Jane Correia and her wife Emma Jackson and their son Thomas Joseph Jackson of Tiverton; Aaron Correia and Jessica Offidani and their son Desmond Correia of Fall River; Saul Correia of Tiverton and Abram Correia and his wife Fawn Rua Correia and their son Greyson Oaen Correia.

Lillian’s service will be held on Friday at 10:00 A.M. in the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. at 1521 N. Main St., Fall River with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow in St. Joseph Church at 11:00 A.M. Interment is private. Calling hours are Thursday 4:00-8:00 P.M.
