Daniel A. O'Leary (Danny O) painting contractor of Quincy, MA died Sunday morning at home with his family. He was 66.
Dan was born in Boston and lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Quincy, MA 32 years ago.
He worked in the painting business for more than 50 years. He was known for his original television commercials and for his work on the South Shore. He instilled the value of an honest day's work in each of his five children.
As a friend of Bill W, Danny O helped many people on their road to recovery. He was never to busy to help, he always extended his hand to newcomers.
He was always ready to drive down to Foxwoods. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Castle Island for a hot dog or an ice cream. He loved to eat in local restaurants around Quincy with Kay.
He was playful and spontaneous and will be remembered forever for his wit and great sense of humor.
Dan is survived by Kay, his wife of 48 years; his children: Debby (DeSimone), Danny Jr., Jimmy, Cathy (Glennon) and Donna (Daly), as well as his eight grandchildren: Sabrina, Jessica, Vanessa (De Simone), Jaqueline (O'Leary-Owen), Adam and Daniel (O'Leary), Sean and Clara (Daly); his brothers and sisters: Bobby, Davey, Jack, Lillian, Franny and Eleanor; and his faithful dog, "Keisha".
Visiting hours will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Wollaston. Funeral Mass will be in Saint Ann's Church, Wollaston Thursday at 10 AM.
Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
