WAYLAND: Virginia McKenna Iandiorio of Wayland and Nantucket, Massachusetts passed away Monday evening, August 29, 2016 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Staten Island, New York to Bartholomew and E. Virginia McKenna.
She attended public schools in Staten Island, attended Mt. Holyoke College on a National Merit scholarship, received a degree in Mathematics from The George Washington University, and a masters in Library Science from Simmons College. She was a brilliant computer programmer from the infancy of the computer revolution and was a consultant to a wide variety of businesses and government agencies including: the NSA, Harvard Cyclotron Laboratory and programming of the Apollo on-board computer at MIT. Virginia was a kind and gracious woman, a cherished friend who was generous, open-hearted, and welcoming to all she met. She had many hobbies and interests but most of all she was completely devoted to her children and family.
She is survived by her four children: Terrell Joseph of Acton, MA, Quenby Elizabeth of Livingston, MT, Caley Michael, of Bedford, MA and Brady Samuel, of Denver CO, her sister Gail McKenna of Littleton, Mass., her former husband and father of her children Joseph of Bolton, MA and five grandchildren: Mason, Ellery, Sam, Joseph and Gaines. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
