Walter S. Welding, 68, of Derry, NH, died on Sept. 8, 2016 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Welding was born in Jacksonville, FL on June 16, 1948, the son of the late Dorothy (Reinhold) Welding Gill and the late Walter S. Welding, Sr. He was a 1966 graduate of Lawrence High School and a graduate of Franklin Institute.
Mr. Welding worked at Compugraphic and Parlex Corporations. In his later years, he worked at the New Balance Outlet in Lawrence. He could fix anything and everything and was always willing to share his knowledge and skills. He enjoyed golfing and following Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox. Also, he was a huge fan of the New York Giants.
Mr. Welding is survived by his beloved partner of 23 years, Kathryn Cleary of Methuen, MA, a daughter, Andrea Welding Cleghorn (Jason) of Hemet, CA, four grandchildren: Joshua Warner of St Paul, MN, Trevor Warner of St Paul, MN, Madeline Warner of Biloxie, MS and Bianca Warner of Hemet, CA, his sister, Betty-Jane Kress (William) of Derry, NH, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and Sherry Dattore of Methuen, MA, and his step-children: Dan King and Dave King of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Dawn Ward of North Reading, MA, as well as his many friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Correia, and his step-father, Ernest Gill.
