Obituary

Salvatore D. “Hank” D’Amore, of Malden passed away peacefully after a courageous fight of kidney and heart failure on Friday September 9, 2016 at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Stoneham, MA. He was 87 years old.

Hank was born October 22, 1928 in Chelsea, MA. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at age 17 and proudly served his country towards the end of World War II and during the Korean War. Following his service, he enjoyed a long, well respected career in the banking industry. Hank was a proud and very active member of Saint Joseph’s Parish in Malden for over 56 years.

Hank was the beloved husband of 55 years to the late Joanne (DeNapoli) D’Amore. He was the cherished son of the late Mary (DiMonte). Hank was the devoted father of Denise Balian of Malden, MA and Michael D’Amore and his wife Kathleen of Duxbury, MA. He was the loyal brother in-law to Stephen and Barbara DeNapoli of Naples, FL. Hank was the loving “papa” of David Balian, Danny Balian, Michael D’Amore and Mathew D’Amore. He is survived by loving step-brothers and step-sisters as well as several cousins who knew him as Sonny and friends who knew him as Hank.

The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday September 13th at 8:45a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph’s Church 770 Salem Street, Malden at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8p.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
