CHARLTON, MA – Kenneth E. Towle, 76, of Old Muggett Hill Rd., Charlton, died September 9, 2016 at his home, after a long illness.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lila (Bond) Towle; daughter Lorinda (Towle) Allen and her husband, Gary, of Charlton, MA, sons Christopher Towle and his wife, Lauren, of Franklin, MA, Wesley Towle and his wife, Rebecca of North Grosvenordale, CT; grandchildren Sara
(Allen) & Thomas Loghry, Patrick Allen, Alex Towle, Luke Towle, Haley Towle, Hunter Towle, Brody Towle and Mackenna Towle; and great-grandson James Kenneth Loghry; his three sisters, Priscilla Towle of Hudson, NH, Beverly Clericuzio of Billerica, MA, and Pamela Gionet of Fitchburg, MA. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Philip Towle.
Kenneth was born in Medford, MA, the son of Merton and Elsie (Wooldridge) Towle. Kenneth grew up in Winchester, MA, later settling in Southington, CT after his marriage and spending the past 45 years in Charlton.
A 1961 graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology he served four years in the United States Air Force, part of that time in Vietnam.
Upon entering the work force, Kenneth worked as a lab technician for United Aircraft Research Lab and High Voltage Power. Later, he served as a shop foreman at various companies, including Sanitary Dash Manufacturing and Coherent General. He eventually retired from his role as superintendent of the Charlton Highway Department and took up part time work at C & C Metals Engineering doing building maintenance and truck driving.
Kenneth holds both and A & P aircraft license as well as a commercial pilot’s license. He loved to build and fly radio control airplanes. He served the town several years as Cub Master for Boy Scout Troop 165, Assistant Fire Chief, EMT and manager of the volunteer ambulance service for 17 years. He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was an active member of Oak Hill Bible Church serving several years in the audio/visual department and as Head Trustee.
Calling hours will be held at the Robert J. Miller-Charlton Funeral Home, 175 Old Worcester Rd., Charlton on Sunday, September 11, 2016, from 6-8 PM . A Private Burial in West Ridge Cemetery to be followed by a Public Memorial Service at Oak Hill Bible Church, 40 Sacarrappa Rd., Oxford, MA. Monday, September 12, 2016 at 2PM.
