Obituary

NATICK: Anthony J. Nigro, Jr., age 60, of Framingham, a former Natick resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. His determination and strength were plain to see as he fought for two years to win his battle with cancer.

Born, raised and educated in Waltham, he was the son of Doris A. (Cuccinello) Nigro and the late Antonio J. Nigro. Tony and the former Marie Fantasia were married 37 years ago and settled in Natick to raise their family.

Tony was a dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America. For over 25 years he served as Scout Master for Natick Troop 1775, a positive influence and role model to hundreds of scouts. He would enlist the aid of others to ensure that any scout could experience summer camp, camping trips, and have the support to reach Scouting achievements. The Nigros’ home became a revolving door welcoming countless scouts and their families.

Tony was employed for over twenty years with Diamond Uniform Rental and was working with the Wayland Country Club when his battle with cancer started. He had also been a longtime member and past president of the Musketaquid Gun Club of Concord.

A lover of nature, Tony taught his sons to appreciate and enjoy camping, hunting, fishing, and cooking outdoors. He found peace and beauty all around him.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Nigro; their sons, Anthony J. Nigro, III, and his wife Lauren of Medway, and Nicholas S. Nigro and his fiancee Trisha Briggs of Framingham; the light in his eyes, grandchildren Connor, Hailey, and Paul; his mother, Doris A. Nigro of Waltham; two sisters, Dolores Coletti and her husband Paul of Newton, and Debra Burbank of Waltham; his mother-in-law, Sylvia (Semon)) Fantasia of CA, two sisters-in-law, Donna Seidel of NH, and Sally Fantasia of CA; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His father-in-law, Salvatore Fantasia, predeceased him in June.

His funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common on Tuesday, Sept. 13th at 9:00AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, at 10:00A.M. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday, 4 – 8P.M.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the BSA Knox Trail Council (http://www.ktc-bsa.org), the Massachusetts Salvation Army, (http://massachusetts.salvationarmy.org or a food pantry of your choice.
