New Bedford – Alice M. Simas, age 100, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at The Oaks. She was the loving wife of the late Virginio Simas.
A lifelong resident of this area, Mrs. Simas was the daughter of the late Francisco “Frank” and Mary Trindad (Pinheiro) Medeiros. She worked for Gosnold Mill and US Ring Binder for many years until her retirement.
Her surviving family includes a daughter, Lillian Roza and her husband, Albert of Easton, Ma; siblings: Sophie Medeiros, Eva Medeiros, Lillian Botelho and her husband Reginald, all of New Bedford, and William Medeiros of Dartmouth; as well as nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her siblings: Mary Rose Lagasse, Frank Medeiros, Antone Medeiros, Joseph Medeiros and Manuel Medeiros.
Thank you to the dedicated staff on the Pinewood Unit at The Oaks and Beacon Hospice, who loved Mom and took such great care of her. Especially, Gina, who always made Mom smile each day.\
Her funeral will be Saturday beginning in the funeral home at 8:45 A.M.; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:45 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
