Obituary

AGAWAM – Richard E. Drouin, 64, of Agawam, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, September 4, 2016. He was born in Springfield on March 18, 1952, a son of the late Richard J. and Rita (LaFleur) Drouin. He was raised in Springfield and graduated from the former Technical High School. He later lived in Westfield before moving to Agawam. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Fire Technician Control Missiles Second Class and received the National Defense Service Medal. He later was employed for many years at Sweet Life Foods in Suffield, CT. He was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan and during his leisure time was an avid reader. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, JoAnn Peters; and his son, Colin Drouin. He leaves his son, Jason T. Drouin and his wife, Rachel Roy-Drouin, of Chicopee; his two grandchildren, Aiyanna and Huxley Drouin; his brother, Edward Drouin of Springfield; and his sister, Mary Kowalcyk of Neptune, NJ. His relatives and friends are invited to attend a Service of Committal with United States Navy Military Honors on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
