Ann A. (Petroni) Tortorici
August 24, 1923 - September 3, 2016, 2016
TEWKSBURY - Ann A. (Petroni) Tortorici, age 93, moved on to a new and eternal stage of her life with God on September 3, 2016. She died peacefully at Tewksbury Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit. Ann was born in Cambridge, MA and was a long time resident of Medford, MA, and Sanford, FL prior to moving to Overland Park, KS for a short time and then to Tewksbury for her final years. Ann was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she went to work part-time as a Clerk for the United States Postal Service at Boston’s South Station Branch, from which she retired. She loved crocheting afghans, many of which are now in the homes of most every relative and close friend. She even made one that was delivered to Pope John Paul II. She retired to Florida in 1978, where she was active at Nativity Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister, visitor to shut-ins, and frequent volunteer for the numerous parish events. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vincenzo and Adolorata Petroni, husband Salvatore Tortorici, sisters Josephine Colford and Lydia Morgan, and brother Francis Petroni. Ann’s passing is mourned by her brothers Michael Petroni of Medford and Vincent Petroni of Woburn, her two sons, Salvatore Tortorici and his wife Carolyn of Overland Park, KS, and Vincent Tortorici of Tewksbury, grandchildren Deanna Bourbeau of Peperrell, Paul Tortorici of Arlington, and Julian Hill-Tortorici of Overland Park, KS; great-grandchildren Kacie and Rylie Bourbeau of Peperrell, Sarah Turrentine, and Morgan Yanez of Overland Park, KS. She was a beloved aunt to thirteen nieces: Mary Ann Marrocco of Reading, Nancy Swan of Byfield, Kathy O’Connell of Stoneham, Mary Ann Guadagnoli of Framingham, Frances Launie of Milton, Carol Sabanty of Stoughton, Linda Davis of Seabrook, NH, Sharyn Seymour of Dracut, Andrea Maffeo of Billerica, Karen Lyon of Norfolk, VA, Dolores Callahan of Woburn, Michelle Fitzsimmons of Stoneham, Laura Hankard of Medford; six nephews: Charles and Lawrence Tortorici of Worcester, Frank Tortorici of Methuen, Vincent Petroni of Canton, Mark Petroni of Quincy, and Dana Petroni of Richmond, TX; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be in the Chapel at Tewksbury Hospital, Saunders Bldg., 365 East St, Tewksbury, MA 01876 on Wednesday, September 14, from 2:00 until 4:00, Followed by a Funeral Mass at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Burial will be at a later time in Sanford, FL In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Tewksbury Hospital Patient Fund, Attn. Administration, 365 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876, will be appreciated. The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and health care aides and staff who most compassionately cared for Ann during her time of residence at Tewksbury Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Unit.
