Obituary


Georgette Leonie (Arrestouilh) Butler entered into rest on August 29, 2016 at Crescent Health Center in Yakima. She was born to Germain and Marceline (Riviere) Arrestouilh on December 16, 1924 in Richland, Washington where she was raised and educated. She graduated from Richland High School in 1943. She worked for E. I. Dupont from 1943 to 1945. Georgette married Othel R. Butler on November 17, 1945 in Pasco and the couple made their home in Prosser where they raised their three children, Linda, David and Laura. In 1966, she went to work for the Prosser School District in Food Services for sixteen years, including eight years as Food Services Director until retiring on July 1, 1982. She enjoyed traveling with friends and camping and fishing with family.

Leona was a Campfire Girl’s leader, assistant leader and served on the Camp Fire Board of Directors for thirteen years as secretary and served for several years on Finance, Personnel, Camping and Awards Committees. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed many years volunteering in church activities. She also volunteered at the Jubilee Ministries Food Bank.

Leona is survived by her children, Linda Bourgeois of Hillsboro, Oregon, David Butler and his wife, Yvonne and Laura Menke and her husband, Michael, all of Selah; her grandchildren, Aaron and Nicole Bourgeois and her great-grandchildren, Michaela, Rhett and Sarah; brother-in-law, Wesley Butler and wife Bonnie Jean of Deer Park; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Butler of Prosser; and Donna Butler of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jean in 1994 and Marcel in 1951; and sisters, Marceline Stock and Alice Deaver; and brothers-in-law, Rolland “Pete,” Burtis, Homer, Alton and Chester Butler; and sister-in-law, Alta May Schlosser.

Viewing will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6th at Prosser Funeral Home with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Concluding services and burial will follow in the Prosser Cemetery.
