Obituary

Robert P. Bernard, 87, of Medway, died peacefully, Thursday September 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Valerie L. (Guilliams) Bernard for 57 years.

Born in Boston on November 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles and Lucia (Ross) Bernard.

Mr. Bernard was a resident of Medway for the past 57 years and proudly served in the Navy during WWII.

Before his retirement, he worked as a truck driver at Holmes Transportation in Framingham for many years.

Mr. Bernard was an amateur radio operator since the early 70’s and his call sign was W1URV. He had impressively communicated with every country in the world.

Mr. Bernard was also an avid yard saler.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Sandra Bernard of Medway, Paul Bernard of Massachusetts and Deborah Bernard of Kentucky.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and two step-sisters Caroline Haneline and Wilma Whapham, both of Pennsylvania.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, September 6 at Noon at St. Joseph Cemetery in Medway.
