Dorothy Barrios, 88, of Ventura, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
Dorothy was born in Ventura on October 25, 1928. She was raised by her mother and father along with her brothers and sisters in the "Tortilla Flats." This is where she met the love of her life, Joseph "Sonny" Barrios. They were married on December 13, 1947. They had three sons Larry, Charles, and Ronald. Dorothy worked alongside her husband for 60 years in the janitorial business, Barrios Janitorial.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Nellie Lorenzana; her husband Joseph Barrios; her son Larry Barrios; daughter-in-law Lola Barrios; grandsons Larry Barrios Jr. and Joseph C. Barrios III; brothers Victor "Keefer" Lorenzana and Mike Lorenzana; sisters Erma Beraldo, Barbara Barrios, and Helen Louise Lorenzana.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Ronnie Barrios of Ventura and Joseph Charles Barrios and his wife Linda; sisters Mae Speer and Evelyn Arellanes; brother Albert Lorenzana; four grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sixteen great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom, you were our guiding light. We will forever hold our memories of you close to our hearts. We loved you then, love you now, and will love you forever!!
We would like to give thanks to the staff at Los Robles Hospital 3rd Floor for the over and above care they gave our mother. Special thanks to Nichole and Sophia Gomez who with heartfelt kindness went above and beyond. Thank you Vitas Hospice, especially Ronnie Jean, hospice nurse, and Juan Carlos Diaz, chaplain.
Funeral Services will be held at 7:00p.m. on Monday September 12, 2016 in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 East Main Street, Ventura.
