Anna M. (Gilmette) Monteiro, age 85, of Brockton, died September 2, 2016 following a brief illness. Anna was the daughter of the late Joaquim and Virginia (Raymond) Gilmette. She was born, raised and educated in New Bedford and was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School. Anna had been an employee of West Acres Nursing Home, Brockton School Department and Brockton VA Medical Center. She was a member of the Brockton Council on Aging, and enjoyed bowling, dancing, cooking, puzzles, and watching sports, especially the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.
Anna is survived by her children Kathleen Roberts, Judith Silva and her husband Robert, Antone “Tony” Monteiro, III, and Anne Marie Graham all of Brockton; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a brother Joaquin “Jack” Gilmette and sister Rose Ramos. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Anna was the mother of the late Michele Monteiro; sister of the late Joseph, Matheus, Raymond and Virginia Gilmette, Julie Gracia, Mary Pina and Evelyn Monteiro and former wife of the late Antone Monteiro, Jr.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday 8:30-10:30am followed by a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 11am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
